AIEF Appoints Alum Wyatt Cook-Revell to the Board of Directors

The Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) has today announced the appointment of Wyatt Cook-Revell as a Non-Executive Director of AIEF.

Mr Cook-Revell brings valuable skills and experience from the legal field, developed since graduating school and university on an AIEF Scholarship.  He joins current Directors Emily Hill and fellow AIEF Alum Carlie Bender to expand the Indigenous representation on the Board.  Together the three bring to the Board lived experience of attending boarding school and a firsthand understanding of the transformative impact of education at an AIEF Partner School.

“Education changed the trajectory of my life and opened doors I never thought possible,” says Mr Cook-Revell.  “I am incredibly proud to join the AIEF Board of Directors.  AIEF believed in me long before I fully believed in myself, and I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to an organisation that has had such a profound impact on my life.”

“Community is my compass.  It shapes how I lead, how I work and how I show up for others.  When young First Nations people are supported to access a strong education, they are empowered to define their own futures and make an extraordinary contribution to our country.”

Wyatt Cook-Revell has family connections to the Birri Gubba, Gurang Gurang, Wangan Jagalingou and Wakka Wakka peoples.  He was raised in Gatton in the Lockyer Valley region of south-east Queensland and is a graduate of Ipswich Grammar School, having completed his secondary education in 2015 on an AIEF Scholarship.

Mr Cook-Revell holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2020 on an AIEF-BHP Tertiary Scholarship.  He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from QUT and a Diploma in Business from Careers Australia.

An Associate at global law firm Jones Day, Mr Cook-Revell advises clients across employment, industrial relations, discrimination, and work health and safety law.  His practice spans a range of industries, including building and construction, energy and resources, professional sports and transport.

Mr Cook-Revell is also a sessional academic at the Queensland University of Technology, serves on Legal Aid Queensland’s First Nations Advisory Committee and is actively involved with the Indigenous Lawyers Association of Queensland.
