The Cathedral College (TCC) is a Catholic co-educational secondary boarding school in Rockhampton, Queensland. TCC’s mission is to make real for all students the invitation from Jesus to ‘Come, live life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). This focus connects Catholic and Indigenous spiritualities at each College campus.

TCC was proud to be home to 103 Indigenous students across Years 7 to 12 in 2023, 21 of whom are boarders from Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Woorabinda, Taroom and Palm Island. A number of our staff identify as First Nations people and provide additional care to students through their presence and culture. TCC’s staff work in partnership to support Indigenous students to attain their preferred post-secondary pathway.

TCC prioritises opportunities for all students, staff and families to access and celebrate Indigenous culture and acknowledge Indigenous history through incorporating Indigenous perspectives in the curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

TCC celebrates:

Indigenous Education Liaison Officers (IELOs) who work tirelessly to support the academic, pastoral, cultural and spiritual needs of the College’s growing population of Indigenous students.
Indigenous presence and history through formal acknowledgement at College events.
An Indigenous Leadership Camp that builds the capacity of students to be leaders at school and in their local communities.
NAIDOC Week activities as structured opportunities to discuss Indigenous history and perspectives on current issues.
The Yarning Circle as a culturally appropriate and sacred space for Indigenous students and staff.
The Indigenous Dance Group which adds special interest and recognition of culture with their performances at events.
The Year 12 Indigenous Graduation Mass and NAIDOC Mass which link the College’s Catholic identity and students’ spiritualities.
The academic and sporting achievements of graduating Indigenous students, including an Industry award and selection in local, state and national sporting teams.
The Indigenous Year 12 Students Farewell Gathering that acknowledges the achievements and contributions of graduating students.

TCC recognises and respects Indigenous people and culture and acknowledges the richness of their presence in the College community.
