Melbourne Girls Grammar School 2024 Report
Dr Toni Meath, Principal
Melbourne Girls Grammar is an ELC to Year 12 girls school located in South Yarra, Melbourne.
At Melbourne Girls Grammar, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. We are committed to creating opportunities for talented First Nations girls to thrive and succeed through our First Nations scholarships.
We foster a supportive and inclusive community where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our close-knit community ensures a nurturing environment for Indigenous scholars. Since 2006, we have welcomed indigenous scholars into our First Nations Scholarship Program. This reflects the School’s commitment to nurture future First Nations leaders, and to ensure all MGGS Grammarians value and respect First Nations culture. Importantly, we want the School to be a culturally safe place for First Nations students, where they feel a strong sense of belonging.
First Nations scholarships are available for boarding students entering Year 9 and cover a significant part of the tuition and boarding fees. In 2025, we have 7 First Nations Scholars in Years 9 to 12. Our dedicated mentors offer guidance and support, empowering them to navigate their educational journey and pursue their study and life goals. We engage with the parents and supporters of our First Nations scholars and value the part they play in their young person’s journey. We provide cultural enrichment activities and events, connecting students in other schools, as well as honouring traditions and creating an environment that celebrates the unique heritage of our First Nations people.
