The Armidale School offers AIEF Scholarships for boarding students.
The Armidale School is a Pre-K to Year 12, co-ed School in the New England Region of NSW. A central part of The Armidale School’s mission is to The Armidale School seeks to actively contribute to reconciliation through developing an honest and meaningful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s histories, cultures, and contributions both locally and nationally. Our aim is to establish authentic and meaningful relationships with the local First Nations community. As a school, we seek to respectfully incorporate local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and co-curricular programs.
The Armidale School Indigenous program includes 39 Aboriginal students from Kindy to Year 12. From Year 7 there is a combination of day and boarding students in Years 7 to 12. Of this, 15 students are currently supported by the AIEF, 10 of whom are female and 5 male. The students are supported and educated via pathways to attain formally recognised qualifications when they graduate from school.
The Armidale School continues to provide increasing opportunities for all The Armidale School students, staff and families to access and celebrate Indigenous culture and acknowledge Indigenous history. These aims have been facilitated through the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives into the teaching and learning curriculum. The Armidale School continues to celebrate aboriginal perspectives and connect with the community through observing Reconciliation week with a special assembly, maintaining the School’s Reconciliation Action Plan on the Narragunnawali platform and building relationships within the community through Attendance at the local NAIDOC Week events. The Armidale School recently joined AISNSW’s The Waratah Project which “…supports participating schools to develop and implement strategies that will improve the literacy, numeracy and other academic outcomes of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, including initiatives to support student wellbeing and strengthen relationships with families and communities” (AISNSW, 2024).
Your investment will help more Indigenous students access world-class education and careers.
Being part of the AIEF Mentor Program has given me the opportunity to mentor and guide a student with great potential. It’s really encouraging to know that my student appreciates the support and I’m looking forward to being there to watch him grow from strength to strength.
