21 AIEF Year 12 students from NSW and WA attended the AIEF Work Readiness Program on 20 and 21 May at the Pullman Hotel Sydney Olympic Park. As a key component of the AIEF Pathways Program, the AIEF Work Readiness Program assists students to gain the information and skills needed to successfully and confidently navigate the transition from school through to work or study for ongoing success in their chosen career pathway. Students attended informative sessions facilitated by AIEF Corporate Partners, Ambassadors and other key supporters. Sessions included a Commonwealth Bank Foundation StartSmart presentation on money management; ‘Making a Good First Impression’, hosted by AIEF Ambassador Stephanie Brantz; ‘Interview Techniques’, hosted by Directioneering; ‘Accor Career Marketplace’, hosted by Accor; and ‘Looking the Part’, hosted by Jamela Duncan from the Australian Women’s Weekly and Daniel Kennedy from Qantas. AIEF was also thrilled to welcome Catherine Freeman to the program as special guest speaker. The students were very excited to meet Ms Freeman and to hear her tell the story of her life, professional sporting career, and her personal journey to success. Several AIEF Alumni also led a session where they shared the experiences and challenges they faced after completing school. Students took away a greater understanding and insight into the opportunities available to them after school as well as skills and techniques that will help them excel in their chosen career pathway.
