On Thursday 17 September 2015 six AIEF-BHP Billiton Scholarship Students from Wesley College and Scotch College visited BHP Billitons Welshpool workshop facility. The Welshpool facility is a purpose built workshop equipped for the rebuilding and refurbishment of large Mobile Mining Equipment, and it includes a major component build area.
The students sat in on a team meeting, took a tour of the facilities and heard from several employees, including an apprentice, about their roles at the workshop. Students were amazed to hear about the size and scale of BHP Billitons mining operations, and really valued seeing a different side of the business.
