On 16 and 17 May 2013 20 Year 12 students and three Year 11 students from NSW and WA attended the AIEF Work Readiness Program at the Qantas Centre of Service Excellence. As key component of the AIEF Pathways Program, the aim of this program is for students to gain the information and skills needed to successfully and confidently navigate from the job application process right through to ongoing success on their chosen career pathway. Students attended informative and topical sessions facilitated by AIEF Corporate Partners and Ambassadors. Sessions included ‘Financial Literacy’, hosted by CBA; ‘Making a Good First Impression’, hosted by AIEF Ambassador Stephanie Brantz; ‘Interview Techniques’, hosted by KPMG; ‘Qantas Career Marketplace’ and ‘Looking the Part’, hosted by Qantas; and ‘What Employers Want’, hosted by Leighton Contractors. Several AIEF Alumni also led a session where they shared the experiences and challenges they faced after completing school. Students took away a greater understanding and insight of the opportunities available to them after school as well as skills and techniques that will help them excel in their chosen career pathway.
