30 Year 12 students attended the AIEF Work Readiness Program on 30 and 31 July 2013 at Leighton Contractors in Brisbane. As a key component of the AIEF Pathways Program, the aim of Work Readiness is for students to gain the information and skills needed to successfully and confidently navigate from the job application process right through to ongoing success in their chosen career pathway. Students attended informative and topical sessions facilitated by AIEF Corporate Partners, Ambassadors and supporters. Sessions included ‘Financial Literacy’, hosted by the Commonwealth Bank; ‘Making a Good First Impression’, hosted by AIEF Ambassador Stephanie Brantz; ‘Interview Techniques’, hosted by KPMG; ‘Digital Life Skills’; ‘What Employers Want’ hosted by Qantas; and a careers session hosted by Leighton Contractors. Three AIEF Alumni also led a session where they shared the experiences and challenges they faced after completing school. Students took away a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them after school as well as skills and techniques that will help them excel in their chosen career pathway.
