Congratulations to AIEF Alum Kodie Mason who was named Young Sydneysider of the Year 2025. The award from the Committee for Sydney recognises a young up-and-coming leader who is making a significant positive impact on Sydney. Kodie, a proud Dharawal, Ngarigo, and Dunghutti woman, attended St Vincent’s College, Potts Point and then university at UNSW on an AIEF Scholarship. She founded Malima, a social enterprise that protects and promotes Aboriginal culture through hands-on workshops in weaving, storytelling, and native plant use. Kodie is also a Senior Policy Officer at the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group.

AIEF Alumni Latiesha Halliday and Thomas Boase attended the National Apology to the Stolen Generations Breakfast in Canberra on 13 February 2026. They were warmly greeted by AIEF Patron in Chief Governor-General of Australia Her Excellency Sam Mostyn AC, along with several AIEF Ambassadors including Nova Peris OAM and Michael Rose AM. Thomas and Latiesha’s presence reflects the ongoing importance of education in closing the gap for future generations, and the vital role that strong pathways and opportunities continue to play in achieving lasting change.

AIEF Students and Alumni were given the opportunity to deliver the Acknowledgement of Country at Bush Summits held across Australia in six regional locations. The 2025 Bush Summit event series addressed challenges and solutions to improve the lives of all those living in regional Australia and was attended by key politicians and local leaders in the respective regional areas.

AIEF Scholarship Students from Partner Schools in WA were hosted by Qantas at their Perth Airport terminal. The students received a guided walkthrough of a QantasLink aircraft and the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and ask the pilot questions. They listened to the benefits of working with Qantas and the type of career pathways that are available.

AIEF Alumni were hosted by SAP to attend a Career Connect day at their North Sydney office. After an office tour, the alumni learned about the SAP internship and graduate programs and were provided insights into careers available at the organisation and employability tips. AIEF Alumni were joined by current SAP STAR interns for lunch where they spoke about key topics in the technology sector.
